About Karen Frank

I am a Visuals Director and Producer with over 20-years of experience creating editorial, digital, and social content. I began my career as Director of Photography at GQ Magazine and went on to work at O, The Oprah Magazine in its beginning days, helping to establish its distinctive brand identity. Since then, I have held leadership positions at numerous publications including More, Conde Nast Portfolio, and Bloomberg Businessweek. I spent the last 11 years at ESPN where I was the creative force behind the groundbreaking annual Body Issue. I also managed photo-driven custom interactive for ESPN.com and other tentpole digital projects, as well as key art for ESPN Films 30 for 30 documentaries, and I produced custom advertising for ESPN Creative Studio.

My work has received numerous photography awards and has been recognized by Communication Arts, the Society of Publications Designers, the Webbys, and many other professional organizations. I was also part of the leadership team that won the prestigious National Magazine Award for General Excellence at ESPN, Bloomberg Businessweek, More Magazine and GQ. In 2019, I was one of Folio’s Top Women in Media: Change Makers honorees.

I have a passion for visual storytelling and love using my experience as a leader and creative problem-solver to produce original, provocative and engaging content.
